Skill and Ability Education has an ongoing work site partnership with the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. This partnership has allowed Skill and Ability clients to gain valuable work experience in multiple departments across the UM Ann Arbor campuses over recent years, both indoors and outdoors. In the summer of 2023, UM Golf Course and Skill and Ability partnered for the first time for small group work experiences. While working at both the main UM Golf Course as well as the Radrick Farms Golf Course, participants gained hands-on experience completing a variety of custodial-related tasks. These included cleaning golf carts, collecting trash, wiping down tables, chairs, windows, other surfaces, cleaning bathroom facilities and generally keeping the clubhouses clean and organized. The UM Golf Course was both accommodating of participant needs as well as welcoming to them as team members over the summer - offering participants drinks and snacks during their shifts and also including the participants in their end of season staff celebration.
