TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Inclusion Specialist: Sophie Steinbock

Sophie joined the Skill and Ability Education team as an Inclusion Specialist in January of 2026. She sought out a workplace like Skill and Ability because she is passionate about promoting self-advocacy and independence to others, regardless of ability or other social identities.
Sophie earned her bachelor’s degree in Community and Global Public Health from the University in Michigan. Her concentration was in Gender & Health, and she participated in Global Scholar's Program, a living/learning community focused on global social justice and social identity learning. As someone diagnosed with ADHD later in life, Sophie is excited about working with clients at every stage in their disability journey.
In her free time, Sophie is an avid concert goer, music lover, hobby painter, and television binge-watcher. She loves her cats, reading fiction, and anything peanut butter and chocolate flavored.
"Until we can receive with an open heart, we are never really giving with an open heart. When we attach judgment to receiving help, we knowingly or unknowingly attach judgment to giving help."
