Vocational Support: James Hannah

james.jpg

James began working with Skill and Ability Education in the fall of 2021 as a Vocational Support Coordinator, assisting clients in job development, work readiness and various individual/group workshops. Along with supporting individual clients with their employment goals, James facilitates skill building workshops through Washtenaw County Jail and the Washtenaw County Youth Center.

James received a BA in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan. He went on to pursue a MFA in Creative Writing before gaining professional work experience in a variety of fields including: retail, sales and marketing, and non-profit. Before joining Skill and Ability Education, he most recently worked with Habitat for Humanity, coordinating volunteers, building relationships with donors, and supporting families and individuals through the process of purchasing an affordable home.

In his free time, James enjoys traveling to new places with his wife, supporting his kids in their various activities, and volunteering in the local community with his family.

"Skill and Ability Education has provided me an opportunity to support both individual clients and the larger mission of disability awareness. I am able to do this through building connections with local employers in a range of businesses and industries. Assisting individuals with their employment goals, and helping match their strengths and interests with their career path, is all the motivation I need each day."
