Inclusion Specialist: Ava Armour

Ava Armour

Ava started at Skill and Ability as an Inclusion Specialist in May 2025. She has been involved with disability services in higher education and employment accommodations for 4 years. Ava attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences.

After college, she moved to Ann Arbor and began working at the University of Michigan in numerous student-facing support roles as well as in ADA compliance for faculty and staff. Ava is excited to be with Skill and Ability where she can actively see the positive impact of her work through her clients.

Since working at Skill and Ability Education, Ava strives to help clients advocate for themselves and gain meaningful employment. She has learned how to advocate for clients through her experience working with college students as well as through her lived experiences since she is neurodivergent, physically disabled, and was formerly a service dog handler.

Outside of her work, Ava is a coordinator for a Jewish young professionals group in Ann Arbor, a local disability advocate, and a French Horn player in two local ensembles. Ava enjoys spending time with friends, going to live music shows, cooking and baking, playing adaptive sports (paraequestrian, wheelchair sports), cuddling with her cats named Monkey and Matzah, and pet sitting in the local Washtenaw County area.

"Every day I’m reminded that success looks different for everyone. Helping clients find pride in their work and belief in themselves is the most rewarding part of what I do. True progress happens when we lead with dignity, inclusion, and the belief that nothing about us without us isn’t just a saying—it’s a commitment."
